Manage current processes, support a new system implementation and design and own new processes

If you combine experience with large (800+ employees), complex payroll processing with solid organizational skills and flexibility, this position offers you some great opportunities. You will:

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have a high school diploma or equivalen. In addition, to be a good fit for the Senior Payroll Analyst opportunity, you will have:
  • 3-5 years of hourly and salary payroll processing experience required
  • Experience processing complex, multi-unit and/or multi-state payrolls for 800 or more employees
  • Multi-state tax experience
  • Experience with annual and quarterly payroll tax and other reporting
  • Strong computer skills including:
    • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, etc.)
    • Experience with Time and Tracking, HRIS and Payroll software; preferably Kronos or ADP eTime Quick question for you - click here
    • Experience supporting projects, ideally involving system implementations and/or transitions
    • Experience with process improvement is a plus
  • Knowledge of:
    • Basic accounting principles
    • Tax withholding
    • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes related to payroll
  • Human Resources experience is an advantage
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree or college-level coursework in Payroll, HR, Accounting, Business or similar discipline is preferred

Initially, you will work a full-time day shift from your home office. When appropriate, we'll create a safe return to work plan. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will join a dispersed team of payroll analysts and be responsible for processing corporate payroll, as well as payroll for our DuraMag and Royal Truck Body brands in Maine and California, respectively. This will be a challenging role. For the first few months, you will process payroll using existing processes that are less than ideal. We'll look to you to stabilize and drive those processes until we change to Kronos. You'll support the implementation and also design and manage new, efficient processes. Quick question for you - click here

There are both weekly and bi-weekly runs, and you'll spend the majority of your time on hourly payroll. Salaries are auto paid, so you will process exceptions and make system adjustments. You will also be responsible for reporting, including annual and quarterly tax, payroll, and ad hoc reports. Many reports are preprogrammed but you will still need to understand which fields they are pulling and check for accuracy.

Specifically, you will:
  • Follow the established and documented payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Conduct various payroll reconciliations and troubleshoot any issues that arise
  • Provide direction and assistance to staff regarding payroll issues and process
  • Report payroll and GL information to each of your assigned sites
  • Ensure accurate accounting and reporting on all payroll activities by brand and location
  • Monitor and update payroll processes and procedures and contribute to the development or updating of payroll-related policies and procedures as requested and needed
  • Use computer and various software programs to input, maintain, research, and retrieve information.
  • Participate in the upcoming implementation of new HR/Payroll system software, i.e., UKG (Ultimate-Kronos), supporting the Payroll Manager as required (e.g., testing and rule/validation, table changes, etc.)
  • Complete quarterly and yearly tax reports and W2s; provide ad hoc reports as requested
  • Remain current with state regulations and requirements in regard to payroll
  • Create, update, and/or maintain written documentation regarding payroll procedures and processes as needed to maintain reference guides, and training materials
  • Interact with and support payroll analysts at other sites as needed; provide backup as needed
  • Performs other related duties or projects as assigned
