To meet the basic qualification for this role, you must have a bachelor's degree and a background in product management. In addition, to be a good fit for the Product Marketing Manager opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or a related field; a master's degree is preferred  Quick question for you - click here
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in:
    • Product management and/or
    • Developing sales tools and content, and/or 
    • Managing integrated marketing campaigns that vary in scope and complexity
  • Strong product management acumen; Pragmatic Marketing certification preferred
  • Solid background in direct marketing and lead generation across multiple channels, including web-based communications and including B2B and/or B2C lead generation and opportunity creation; B2B experience highly preferred
  • Strong computer and software skills including:
    • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills
    • Marketing Automation software (Marketo, Pardot, Eloqua or similar) Quick question for you - click here
    • CRM experience, Salesforce is highly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, technical writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to direct and influence others to achieve timely results
  • Automotive industry experience, ideally working with dealerships, preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed with Sales Team members for dealer and customer visits, and for trade shows (15%-30%) 
Experience including most or all of the following:
  • Previous experience collaborating with highly driven sales teams as demonstrated through a solid understanding of sales cycles and sales tool development
  • Proven success combining analytical and creative thinking skills to:
    • Create accurate forecasts and implement programs on time, within budget, and in support of strategic goals and objectives
    • Execute data-driven closed-loop marketing campaigns with demonstrable ROI
    • Develop and manage budgets and provide management reporting
  • Experience monitoring the correlation between action and results, including champion-challenger testing, while leveraging that information to make improvements mid-project
  • Articulating compelling business cases clearly and concisely in support of proposed programs and initiatives
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to translate technical details into understandable, marketable content
Typically, you will work out of our Carson, CA office, unless traveling, in order to build relationships and work effectively with our Sales, Engineering and other teams. We are forming a return to work plan and some schedule flexibility may be available.

Reporting to the Corporate Vice President, Marketing and Communications, you will work to achieve revenue and market segment penetration goals by formulating and executing comprehensive product-focused marketing strategies and corresponding integrated plans that drive product awareness across prospective and current clients for The Shyft Group's service body brands (i.e. Royal Truck Body, DuraMag, and Magnum). All marketing strategies will be in alignment with the corporate brand strategy.

In executing your role, you'll spend time listening to customers and dealers, analyzing the market and our competition, and recommending relevant marketing strategies to the marketing team and leadership to increase market share. You'll partner with the Segment Marketing Manager to create sales tools designed to effectuate better market penetration into new accounts, as well as positively impact cross-sell and upsell activities. A large emphasis will be placed on your ability to develop and measure the effectiveness of corresponding tactics. Specific tasks will include:
  • Working with Engineering to identify and document product mix by market and segment
  • Working in lockstep with Engineering and Sales to create and manage an actionable product roadmap from which demand generation efforts, collateral, and sales tools will be derived
  • Conducting, analyzing, and interpreting research meant to identify potential and existing customers, competitors, and markets for products and coordinate outreach with Business Development and/or Lead Generation teams
  • Reviewing and approving product-specific data sheets, promotional publications, presentations, advertisements, and/or brochures, ensuring that product value propositions are clearly and effectively communicated
  • Developing and administering launch plans for new or revised products, creating and administering strategies for increasing market share of existing products; assisting in retirement and communication planning for product decommissioning
  • Evaluating performance of marketing initiatives and revising strategy in response
  • Participating in the planning of sales promotions or other special events, such as conferences, trade shows, or user meetings
  • Developing and delivering product-specific training to Sales or Sales Support teams
  • Working closely with cross-functional leadership to drive the expansion of existing and new customers 
  • Partnering with the Sales to enhance their success by recommending and developing tools such as mobile applications, collateral, presentation materials, tutorial webinars, and customer and competitor profiles
  • Supporting trade shows and events by developing relevant sales tools and product-based assets
  • Leading strategic marketing priorities and ensuring goals are realized
  • Collaborating and assisting with demand generation planning efforts in your respective segment, including helping to develop the overall strategy, producing new and nurtured lead generation goals and forecasts, managing within a budget, and measuring overall results against plans
  • Achieving marketing qualified lead and pipeline targets by planning and executing marketing programs including email campaigns, webinars, trade shows, social media programs, video production, digital display advertising and marketing with third parties
