More About Your Role

We're looking for a professional who can identify potential issues and develop impactful solutions rather than temporary fixes. For example, at one of our facilities not long ago, employees in a particular work area were reporting a high number of lacerations. The EH&S Specialist dug in and quickly realized that the employees needed gloves rated for sheet metal. A small investment in the right gloves reduced employee injuries significantly, increasing both production and revenue.

More About Your Success
To excel in this role you will look forward to getting out on the production floor to interact with employees and promote a culture of safety. We are not safety police. Instead, you should establish yourself as a resource and partner who can help people stay safe and healthy. Another recent fix illustrates the value of this approach: an EH&S Specialist asked employees in a production cell which of two drills they preferred. The general feedback was that one made their shoulders sore. The team went with the drill that offers better ergonomics. That being said, you also will need to be assertive when necessary.

This role has strategic elements and you'll have plenty of chances to show off your creativity. At the same time, you'll need to roll up your sleeves to get things done. As you communicate with different audiences, you should adjust your messaging and delivery accordingly. Throughout your interactions, you should share your passion for EH&S best practices.

In addition, in order to be an outstanding EH&S Specialist you will:
  • Pay attention to details and also grasp the bigger picture and why the details are important
  • Achieve goals independently and also contribute as a team player
  • Bring a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Combine creativity and analytical thinking in solving problems
  • Keep a constant eye out for ways to improve environmental, health, and safety conditions
